BLUE WHALE MARCH
The Tatzoo Blue Whale team dreamed up a "whale march" to raise awareness about the Blue Whale and how we can protect them. In true DIY fashion, the team created colorful posters to advertise the event and made a life-sized blue whale out of rope, pool noodles, and PVC.
Ship strikes are a leading cause of death for the endangered Blue Whale. The team targeted NOAA's office at Chrissy Field to demand slower ship speeds off the California coast. They also created postcard petitions and collected 120 of them from event participants.
It was a fun day filled with food, drinks, and prizes (i.e. tickets donated by SF museums). Everyone made a deeper connection with the majestic Blue Whale off our coast and learned how we can protect them.
